This is a ridiculous scenario, but imagine if Oprah Winfrey’s professional work experience, accomplishments and achievements were written like this! Surprisingly, many serious job seeking and job hunting professionals spend little effort writing a quality resume that is not representative to their professional skills and contributions they can provide to an employer.
Think about it. We all know that Oprah’s career is much more impressive that what is listed above. Imagine that a potential employer did not know anything about Oprah Winfrey’s career other than what was on this resume. It doesn’t look like much and therefore she might get overlooked.
Look at your resume. Does it give any indication of what you have accomplished in your career, or is it just a generic list of jobs you’ve had in the past. Did you simply take a resume template or resume example and copy it? Employers only know what you tell them about yourself. So what does your resume say about you?
